Imran Khan’s Release: A Call for Responsible and Lawful Protest Guiding PTI’s Movement.

A Call for Responsible and Lawful Protest Guiding PTI’s Movement for Imran Khan’s Release

Recent developments—such as the news of Imran Khan’s children potentially returning to Pakistan and a renewed push for change within the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government—have reignited the passion and morale of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers across the country. Even those party officials who had seemingly grown complacent, enjoying governmental perks while remaining indifferent to Imran Khan’s prolonged imprisonment, are now re-entering the political arena, fearing the possible loss of their positions and influence.

This resurgence is encouraging. It signifies a rekindled commitment to justice and leadership within PTI’s ranks. However, for this momentum to be effective and sustainable, it must be channeled wisely.

A Sincere Appeal to PTI

The current movement must remain focused solely on one objective: the lawful and peaceful release of Imran Khan. It should not transform into an all-out confrontation with state institutions or a chaotic display of defiance. PTI must resist the urge to push for a showdown at D-Chowk or adopt a strategy that escalates into direct clashes with the state.

Avoid Confrontation, Uphold the Constitution

The path of confrontation—especially any rhetoric or action against the Pakistan Army or national security—will not only undermine the movement but could also tarnish its moral standing. Any protest that crosses the line into lawlessness, property damage, or hate speech will likely backfire, providing the state with justification to suppress the movement with greater force.

Imran Khan has always claimed to stand for the rule of law, justice, and democratic norms. Therefore, PTI must embody those principles, especially now. This movement should be a symbol of democratic resilience, not a source of civil disorder. Avoiding D-Chowk and opting for legal and ethical methods of protest will enhance PTI’s credibility, both nationally and internationally.

Reject Hate, Embrace Unity

It is also time for PTI to set an example by rejecting the toxic culture of insults, slander, and hatred in politics. Criticizing for the sake of criticism weakens the fabric of democracy. All political parties must act as custodians of Pakistan’s progress, democratic order, and Islamic values. The politics of division must be replaced with the politics of unity and service to the people.

Responsibility of the Government

On the other hand, the government and state institutions must also act with fairness. They should not suppress PTI’s democratic right to protest, so long as it remains peaceful and lawful. Authorities must allow room for political expression and ensure that all decisions are rooted in the Constitution and legal principles—not political vendettas or personal interests.

The Way Forward

Pakistan belongs to all its citizens—regardless of political affiliations. Today, if one group is denied justice, tomorrow another will face the same fate. We must build a culture where everyone—whether in government, opposition, or civil society—respects democratic norms and national institutions.

Let this movement be a turning point—not toward violence and chaos, but toward peaceful reform and national unity. PTI must stay disciplined, focused, and responsible. This is the only way the movement will truly serve Imran Khan, the people of Pakistan, and the democratic future of our beloved nation.
