Greenland: A New Bone of Contention Among Global Powers

Greenland: A New Bone of Contention Among Global Powers

Former U.S. President Donald Trump’s statement regarding Greenland — that if America does not take control, Russia or China will — is not merely rhetoric. It reflects a deeper reality: the global power struggle has entered a new phase, where even allies are no longer safe from strategic ambitions.

Asia: A Failed Pressure Zone

The United States failed to fully assert dominance in Asia primarily due to China’s strategic partnership with Pakistan. This alliance blocked American leverage and reshaped the regional balance. Asia could not be bent to U.S. will, forcing Washington to look elsewhere.

Middle East: Slipping Out of Control

The Middle East also gradually slipped from American hands:

  • Pakistan–Saudi Arabia strategic coordination reduced U.S. maneuvering space.
  • The UAE, traditionally aligned with Western interests, lost flexibility due to the same regional realignments.
  • Iran’s resilience and Israel’s inability to advance further neutralized American momentum in the Gulf.

The result: the Gulf is no longer an uncontested American sphere of influence.

Latin America: Venezuela Standoff

When the U.S. attempted to advance in Venezuela, Russia stood firmly in opposition, preventing Washington from securing decisive influence there as well.

Africa: China’s Rising Model

Africa is now awakening politically and economically, and China’s influence is expanding rapidly. The reason China outperforms the U.S. and Russia in Africa is simple:

China arrives with development, infrastructure, and investment — not just military pressure.

This development-first approach has made China a preferred partner across the continent.

Greenland: Europe Becomes the Target

With Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa either contested or slipping away, the strategic focus has shifted northward.

Greenland is not about land — it is about control of Europe, Arctic routes, resources, and future power corridors.

This leads to a stark conclusion:

The snake has begun to eat its own offspring.

In other words, America is now prepared to dominate even its closest allies — Europe itself — to preserve global supremacy.

Conclusion

Greenland symbolizes a dangerous transformation in global politics:

  • Allies are expendable
  • Geography is destiny
  • Power now moves inward, not outward

The struggle is no longer between East and West alone — it is between survival and decline for global powers.
